There are some skills kids can’t afford to live without

When a student doesn’t catch onto Kriah, the impact ripples throughout their entire day – and their entire life ahead.

ACADEMICALLY

They can’t keep up when the class progresses to more complex Hebrew-reading, Chumash or Gemara

SPIRITUALLY

They can’t connect with Tefillah and the parts of Yiddishkeit that rely on their ability to read

EMOTIONALLY

They don’t believe in themselves because, “I can’t do this, so I can’t do anything!”

Kriah is a foundational skill for every child.

It’s about embracing learning, understanding Chumash and Gemara, enjoying davening, and loving Yiddishkeit.
It’s coming to class with confidence, volunteering answers, and feeling successful.

It’s frustrating for a child to feel like a failure, which they’ll often show as insecurity or behavioral issues as they fall exponentially behind.

Mastering Kriah is crucial to a student’s long-term success. But…

Some students just don’t catch on.

They haven’t grasped nekudos when the class is already blending full pesukim. Their reading is halting, laborious, and inaccurate.

Even with worksheets, prizes, resource-room support, evaluations, and techniques, they’re stuck.

And the lag shows. They’re anxious to be called on to read out loud. They struggle to explain the posuk – because how can they understand when they can’t read?

They’re losing confidence in their ability to read. You’re losing faith in the ability for that to change.

The Confident Kriah Method

“Is different from the 7-8 different therapies, tutors, and evaluations we’ve tried over the last decade”

Chezky Steiner, parent

“Breaks the code of learning”

Nechama Telsner, Kriah coordinator at Bnos Chana, Melbourne

“Shows clear evidence of change and success”

R’ Bension, dean at Darchei Menachem

The dozens of schools that utilize Chani’s methods see incredible changes in the classroom.

Students are consistently reaching crucial Kriah milestones like…

  • putting together letters and nekudos with ease,

  • demystifying the rules of shva,

  • transitioning from individual sounds to smoothly blended words.

“I see a big change in the students. What astonished me the most was the confidence of the children changed from, “I hate doing Kriya,” to, “Hey, this is so easy for me.”

“The course was fascinating. I really liked the examples of understanding a child's mind – it puts everything into perspective. The specialist track showed clearly how to work 1:1 with a child. I’ve used everything from the course this year. With CKM, I feel prepared for each scenario.”

Chana Leeba Karp, 2023 course participant

“The course is very clear – it’s worth every penny. It will help you really help your students, and take them where they need to get to with their Kriah reading. If I could take this and share it with all the teachers in my school, I would!”

2023 course participant

“I so appreciated getting to the root of why and how certain teaching practices work, and why they are successful. Thank you for taking Kriah and elevating it to the level it so deserves.”

Chanie Levin, 2023 course participant

With the Confident Kriah Method, you can make Kriah a learnable skill for all students – yes, especially the ones who struggle most.

CKM was developed by Mrs. Chani Karp, Ms. Ed., with decades of special ed experience and in-depth knowledge about how our students learn.

The approach combines methods from special education, differentiated instruction, experience with (hundreds of) students, an intimate understanding of Kriah theory, readiness systems, as well as some entirely unique tools.

The Confident Kriah Method was designed to give teachers and Kriah tutors access to the techniques that have enabled hundreds of students – yes, even the “mystery” students – to read with confidence.

Instead of speed and memory-based learning, CKM focuses on proven skills and learnability, for long-term, effective kriah reading.

Turn Kriah into a process every one of your students can master.

By the end of this 5-session course, you’ll be able to

Break down Kriah – so it’s easily learnable for all students

Effectively remediate – and then see clear progress in their reading

“Our son, who had been struggling to read for years, now reads beautifully in both Hebrew and English. He went from hating reading to picking up whatever he can to read. He is actually confident. Chani is a well-trained and focused professional who can help your child, no matter how hard reading is for them.”

Toby Brikman, parent

“Chani didn't just work with the reading issue. Chani gave M the kriah skills as well as renewed confidence in himself. After having a hard time with Hebrew reading, he is now learning how to daven for the amud and how to layn from the Torah.”

Shaindee Rosenblat, parent

“Chani honed in on what he needed to work on and helped our son reach his goals. She was also his advocate for getting into a new school. Today, he confidently opens a Siddur to daven. Chani will be thorough and get the results you need. “

Chani’s Confident Kriah Method has helped students achieve more than they ever dreamed they were capable of.

Like the 11 year old boy, whose ability to read was practically non-existent. He was confusing the order of letters in words, mixing up similar-looking letters, and breaking words in seemingly random places. He’d run out of the classroom rather than sit through the humiliation and frustration of class.

The systematic CKM approach made Kriah learnable – and retainable – for him. Instead of having a small bar mitzvah like he wanted (to avoid having to lein), he proudly read from the Torah at a big one. Just like his friends.

A few months later, his mother called to share the news: her son had become the school’s baal koreh.

And the 15-year old high-school girl who never participated in any of the classes — no discussions, no reading, no analysis of the mefarshim. Because who wants to announce that they’re already in ninth grade and still mix up their Alef-Bais?

The Confident Kriah Method cleared the fog around Hebrew reading. For the first time, she felt like she had a chance to stay on par with the class. Her marks immediately rose and her confidence grew. She had walked into the first session  with her arms crossed and walked out with her head held high.

“Get to the root of why and how”

“I see a huge change”

“Worth every penny”

“Changed my Kriah sessions”

“The children’s confidence level changed”

  • Yes, the CKM’s foundational understanding of Kriah is beneficial to parents who want to understand the way their children learn, the skills they need to read, and how to identify and strengthen weaknesses. It’s especially helpful for parents who homeschool or send their children to an online school.

  • Kriah tutoring is an incredibly fulfilling field – when you help a student master Kriah you give them the gifts of confidence, love of Yiddishkeit and learning, and the ability to succeed academically, socially, and behaviorally.

The Kriah specialist track will be available once the course finishes. If you enjoyed the CKM content and can see yourself implementing the method one-on-one, you can enroll in the bonus track then.

  • Both men and women are welcome. There will be no interaction between participants over the duration of the course.

  • The course runs from July 9-17, 2024 with 5 2-hour Zoom sessions. In just 10 hours, you’ll have an entire toolbox to teach and tutor Kriah more effectively.
